Time to kill ReadBeyond

For the last 18 months I have been working full-time for ReadBeyond, the company I started with two associates.

I am immensely proud of what we have achieved (e.g., Menestrello, Audio-eBooks, keeping our back straight), especially considering the resources we had (15.000 Euros cash, plus my time, plus one associate's half-time) and the deliberate choice of legally running the business in Italy (instead of opening a fictitious company elsewhere, as many (dishonest, IMHO) startuppers/consultants suggest).

However, things have become unsustainable, both from the financial point of view, and, more importantly, in the "work happiness" department. I take my part of responsibility for that. At the same time, I think that trying to keep ReadBeyond alive without substantial changes in funding, team, or mission is not useful for anyone.

Simply put, I think it is time to kill ReadBeyond.

For the moment, the website and the Audio-eBooks will stay online, and I will release the v3.0 of the app Menestrello in a few days.

Starting February 1st, I will be on the market, and this time my decision is definitive.
